BEST ASCB Biotech Management Training

The ASCB (American Society for Biochemistry and Cell Biology), in partnership with the Keck Graduate Institute, is offering a one-week intensive management training course from July 11-16, 2016, at the Keck Graduate Institute in Claremont, CA. This course will accommodate 50 graduate students (3rd y+) and postdocs (international and domestic). The course registration fee is $300, with an additional, optional accommodations package of $500.

The course will introduce PhD scientists to the skills they need to thrive in industry and will expose them to the culture, organizational structures, and practices of life science companies through MBA-style case-based classroom experiences, networking, professional development workshops, and a team-based project. They will learn how academic science is commercialized and gain insight into the way industry views scientific research. The course is designed for advanced graduate students with at least three years of research experience and for postdocs.

The deadline to apply is April 15, so please forward this email to anyone who might be interested. Select BESTies will be eligible for a subsidized participation cost. Please contact Susi Varvayanis with your expression of interest. To ensure broad participation, if you have benefitted from a BEST subsidy in the recent past, you are welcome to apply under your own funding.

The application is straightforward, and the only stipulation is that applicants must be or become an ASCB member (grad students: $48, postdocs:$76) . Click here for more information and to apply.
